Center for Architecture

 

The Center for Architecture is dedicated to
fostering the interaction between architects
and the Community, providing understanding
about architecture to the community, exploring innovative visions of design and construction, offering resources in support of architectural practice, and highlighting excellence in design
and the built environment. The Center for Architecture will also be a venue for continuing education, exhibits and lectures.

headquarters for the
Botanic Research
Institute of Texas. 
Designed by Hugh
Hardy of H3 Hardy
Collaborative Architecture,
the 68,000 square foot
building will house the
Institute’s herbarium
collection of one million
holdings and a library
of more than 100,000 books,
periodicals, and journals from
around the world. The project
design will aim to meet the
LEED Gold Certification
through acomprehensive
conservation effort including
energy, building
materials and water conservation.
Dr. Sy Sohmer, President and
Director of BRIT, will discuss
BRIT’s role in conservation of
our natural heritage and the role
that the new building and landscape
will play in their mission of discovery,
documentation and information
dissemination of plant conservation.
